Ultra-Realistic Flight Simulation

The X-Plane Social Event Community

The X-Plane forum for younger users has changed its purpose. Here’s an update from the site’s administrator:

Hello all X-Plane users!

Lately I have been working very hard on a new forum, which, as you may know, was for the younger users. This is no longer the case. A friend and I had discussed many issues with the forum, and we decided to change the forum’s purpose. So today, I would like to share the site’s new purpose!

My site is now the X-Plane Social Event Community. It will feature official voting, technical support, loads of interviews, social reviews and discussions, news, and more!

So as time goes on, more and more interviews will be posted. The x737 team, the SSG team, Peter’s Aircraft, and Javier Rollon (creator of the CRJ200) have all interviewed thus far, and more is being written all the time!

So I encourage all readers to come and check it out. The community is new, so everyone is more than welcome to come along and register. It would be great to see the user list expand over time!

If you are interested, visit the site.

Thanks to all that have taken interest!

Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress

Khamsin’s B-17G is one of the most realistic flight experiences available for X-Plane. With a gorgeous 3-D model (including 3-D cockpit), this is truly a payware-quality warbird.

Don’t forget to check out the manual!

Antonov An-2

This single-engine biplane is slow and fun to fly. Designed in 1946 in the USSR, and produced consistently for 45 years afterward, it’s a big piece of aviation history. Perhaps most interestingly, the aircraft has no stall speed. Like many modern VTOL/STOL aircraft, it can even fly backward! With the engine off, the aircraft will descend at about the same rate as a parachute until it reaches the ground.

Be sure not to miss the flight manual and 3 extra liveries provided by the author!

See a video of the scenery here.

Press Release: The Bright, Shiny Future of X-Plane

Happy April Fools Day, everyone!

Note: This “press release” was posted April 1.

Hello, I am Austin Meyer, author of X-Plane, and I am announcing some major new improvements and pricing strategies for X-Plane 10.1, due out in a few weeks!

First of all, starting with X-Plane 10.1, we will be removing almost all of the world-wide dynamic scenery that X-Plane is known for. It is simply too much work for us to create, maintain, and improve this kind of massive database, so we are cutting the Global Scenery out of X-Plane starting with version 10.1. Of course, we still need to have some scenery to fly over, so, to keep our jobs simple, we will be cutting the scenery down to the smallest and most geographically isolated area we can imagine: Hawaii. We chose Hawaii because that is such a small area that we can very easily create and distribute it. As well, this tiny flying area will be totally static. There will be no moving cars, no dynamic lighting, and no living cities. No immersive 3-D world loaded with AI cars and planes to fly in. There is simply no need for this complex and dynamic environment and it is actually a very difficult  job for us to continue to provide this stuff for you. (more…)
