Upgrade Policy:

All X-Plane purchases entitle you to free upgrades through the rest of that integer-version run.
For example, if you buy a 7.00 CD, you get free updates through version 7.99 if that many are released.
Upgrades are available for free download from this site, and come out about once a month on average.
Updates have cool new features that people have requested over the previous month or so.
The "current news" section at the front of this web page shows the new stuff in the latest upgrade.

Re-Distribution Policy:

You may copy, modify, quote, use, distribute (or anything else you can imagine) the X-Plane instruction manual freely.
You may copy and re-distribute the X-Plane DEMO to any person or group for any reason you like, without modifications.
You may NOT copy an X-Plane CD for any reason.

You may distribute images of or output from X-Plane in any way you like, for any reason you like, as long as you make "www.X-Plane.com" reasonably visible somewhere in the image or output.
