The electronic flight instrument system powered by X-Plane

EFIS App is a program from Laminar Research used to simulate an electronic flight instrument system (EFIS). It connects to a copy of X-Plane to very accurately simulate the current Cirrus and Eclipse primary flight display (PFD) and multi-function display (MFD). This lets our users build a pretty accurate Cirrus or Eclipse Avidyne cockpit simulator driven by X-Plane!

EFIS App runs on its own computer and monitor. Its system requirements are very low; a 1 GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM and a cheap video card are just fine. Its interface represents an Avidyne (typically Cirrus or Eclipse) PFD or MFD when connected with an Ethernet cable to another computer running a copy of X-Plane.

In X-Plane, simply enter the IP address of the computer running EFIS App in the X-Plane Net Connections screen and X-Plane will drive the high-accuracy Avidyne PFD or MFD in EFIS App! Users can even get two monitors for the computer running EFIS App, enter a wide screen resolution into EFIS App, and have one monitor show the PFD and the other the MFD! As well, X-Plane has no problem driving two, three, or even four copies of EFIS App at once.

Using EFIS App, you can finally have a very high-fidelity, high-resolution, stand-alone monitor for the Avidyne PFD and MFD running with X-Plane!

Simply hook up any USB human interface device (any joystick at all!) and assign any button to any function in EFIS App. You can easily build a custom input device that looks just like the real plane that interfaces via USB to drive EFIS App!

Compatibility with X-Plane 10

EFIS App currently works only with X-Plane 9. For users of X-Plane 10, we suggest EFIS App for iPad, a tool for turning your iPad into a full-featured, high-quality, wireless flight display.
