December 2015 – How you used X-Plane in 2015

Hello there!

X-Plane 10.40 started collecting anonymous data to track what’s popular in the simulator, and this month we have a colorful visual to highlight some of the results. Check out information below on the new X-Plane Question and Answer website as well as a free tropical destination download.

2015 X-Plane Usage

X-Plane may seem lonely at times if you don’t fly online, but there are thousands of people like you enjoying virtual flights every day. The sim has been tracking data from these users’ millions of flights over the past few months and some trends have emerged.  If you’ve ever wondered what the most popular plane is, or how your computer compares to others, you’ll find that info and more in the infographic below.

For those of us in the northern hemisphere, transitioning into the cold months of winter can get you down. If you’d rather be sitting on an island somewhere with a cool drink in your hand and your feet in the sand, you can take an all-expenses paid trip to the beautiful islands of Hawaii with this scenery pack.

Lanai Airport (PHNY) is the latest release in the Hawaii Photoreal Scenery project. It features stunning cloudless orthoimagery for the entire island, higher resolution imagery around and within airports, and reefs around the east end of the island in beautiful color. It is compatible with HD Mesh and uses OpenSceneryX objects.

The Hawaii Photoreal project has two additional freeware sceneries available for X-Plane 10. You can learn more and support the project on their website, or download the free scenery from X-Pilots.com (requires a free account).
