WJ Sibley

“I’ve always had an interest in planes but, more specifically, flying. My first school project at the age of 11 was to do with the Wright brothers. I love watching planes take off, land and fly. Seeing such large objects seemingly defy gravity is fascinating.

However, I had my first passenger flight 21 years ago and I have not flown since. I’m inherently scared of flying.

For the past 2 years I have been using X-Plane to learn to fly a Boeing 737-800 so that I can understand what is involved and the safety systems and procedures that are in place. This has increased my confidence immensely. I am now teaching myself to fly a Cessna 172 in X-Plane and, as a consequence, I am planning to take real world lessons this year and hopefully get on an airliner and visit somewhere overseas that is very important to me.

For X-Plane 12, I’m looking forward to a more immersive flying experience in general. X-Plane 11 has already given me the experience of flying in a way I could not have previously imagined. The richer graphics, lighting, clouds, weather/climate etc. and continued improvements to the model that are coming in X-Plane 12 can only serve to deepen the experience.”
