X-Plane 10 Mobile was built using the same concepts in Laminar’s showcase desktop product, X- Plane 10. As with the desktop version of X-Plane, the mobile Android version uses real physics to model the aerodynamic forces found in flying an actual aircraft. The result is a product that is not just another game, but rather a highly sophisticated simulation of how aircraft actually behave in a variety of environments and weather conditions.

X-Plane 10.40 Released with Free App Control Pad
South Carolina, September 28, 2015 – Laminar Research, creator of the X-Plane flight simulator franchise, is proud to announce the latest update to X-Plane 10, version 10.40.
This latest release contains numerous performance enhancements, bug fixes, and exciting new additions, all leading to a substantial update of X-Plane 10. The most exciting new feature is Control Pad, an App for the iPad that allows users to control X-Plane functions dynamically while flying the simulator. Not only can a user now change weather, position, and initiate failures from the device, but it is accomplished without pausing X-Plane or interrupting their flight. Control Pad can also function as a portable instructor station, allowing a flight instructor or friend to throw all manner emergency situations at you while flying X-Plane 10, such as sending a flock of birds into your windshield or causing the cockpit to fill with smoke. The result is a product that is not just another game, but rather a highly sophisticated simulation of how aircraft actually behave in a variety of environments and weather conditions.
Version 10 contains numerous features and enhancements not found in the previous mobile version of X-Plane.

Laminar Research Releases X-Plane 10.30
September 16, 2014, Columbia, South Carolina. Laminar Research, creators of the X-Plane flight simulator franchise, is pleased to announce the release of the latest update to X-Plane, version 10.30.
This latest release represents the largest and most significant X-Plane update to date. It not only contains numerous fixes and performance improvements, but also some substantial additions to the product itself. Foremost is the inclusion of the new GPS. The previous versions of X-Plane also included a GPS instrument but it could only do direct-to navigation and could not implement a GPS approach. With the recent introduction of GPS enabled approach systems at many airports, the new GPS in X-Plane will allow customers to practice actual GPS approaches using an instrument familiar to most general aviation pilots. The new GPS is a drop-in replacement for the old X-Plane GPS, so that with one click in Laminar’s PlaneMaker, old aircraft can be upgraded to the more IFR capable version. The X-Plane 10.30 default aircraft come with the new GPS already installed. The new GPS is based on the Garmin 430 and Garmin 530 and both variants are included.

Laminar Research announces the release of Airport Scenery Gateway and World Editor 1.3 for X-Plane 10
August 28, 2014, Columbia, South Carolina. Laminar Research is pleased to announce the release of its Airport Scenery Gateway, as well as an updated and improved version of its airport scenery tool, World Editor 1.3. The Airport Scenery Gateway can be accessed on the internet at http://gateway.x-plane.com and the new and improved version of World Editor is available for download at http://developer.x-plane.com under Scenery Tools.
The Airport Scenery Gateway was created to facilitate the populating of X-Plane with 3D airport sceneries that are consistent in quality and appearance, error-checked, and will work with a standard installation of X-Plane 10. During the past several months Laminar Research has received hundreds of airports designed by World Editor users. World Editor is an airport scenery creation and editing tool for Laminar’s X-Plane 10 that allows the typical X-Plane user to create airport scenery.
By establishing an internet gateway for scenery submission, it is now possible with World Editor 1.3 for users to automatically submit airport scenery contributions directly to the Airport Scenery Gateway. X-Plane users can visit the Airport Scenery Gateway to search for airport scenery submissions. The scenery can then be immediately downloaded into X-Plane 10 before it appears in a scheduled X-Plane update.

Xavion, the ultimate Synthetic Vision Co-Pilot, provides back-up after EFIS failure in flight.
June 17, 2013, Redmond, Oregon. A Lancair IV-P without a functioning autopilot entered the clouds, leaving the two people on board depending on their two EFIS displays for aircraft control. Both EFIS displays suddenly went blank, giving new meaning to the term “blue screen of death.”
We should expect the loss of both souls on board. But no fatalities occurred. No accident occurred.
Owner and pilot Lin Hough had just entered IMC at 17000’ when both displays went completely blank. The Xavion VP-400 backup display “performed perfectly,” allowing Lin to continue his flight safely.
Lin commented, “The VP-400 mounted in my Lancair rolled right into action. I was almost level at 19000’ when my displays came back. I didn’t have a functioning auto pilot, which added to the intensity of the moment. The outcome without the VP-400 might not have been survivable.“

Laminar Research Announces Wireless ADS-B receiver for Xavion Mobile Aviation Application
June 3, 2013. The newest features include a wireless interface with an ADS-B receiver providing weather displayed on the Xavion map. Weather information includes NEXTRAD, METARS, and wind data for the most accurate glide path calculations in an emergency. Xavion is compatible with both the iLevel and Sagetech Clarity weather systems. The Sagetech Clarity system provides the enhanced feature of traffic data.

Patent Troll Interviews
February 21, 2013, Columbia, South Carolina. A lawsuit was recently brought against Laminar Research by Uniloc, (a company that has filed countless lawsuits, but does not have any history of developing or selling flight simulators) claiming that X-Plane for Android infringes on “their” ideas.
A patent troll is a company that files or purchases patents (often from failing or bankrupt companies) with the sole intention of suing companies that exercise common practices described by those patents. Estimates on patent infringement cases filed by patent trolls has risen from only a few percent in recent history to an estimated one third of all current patent lawsuits, costing businesses billions of revenue lost to these frivolous lawsuits.
