October was a very exciting month here at Laminar Research. On Oct. 8 we announced that X-Plane 11 will be available this year, and we’ve been examining a new feature every Friday. Today we’ve got a recap of this month’s X-Plane 11 feature releases and some great links to X-Plane 10 add ons below.
X-Plane 11 – October Feature Recap
Last month we took a closer look at the new user interface, the three brand new aircraft, and Flight School.
The new user interface was one of our top priorities for the new version, and it may be one of the most obvious changes. As soon as you start X-Plane 11 it looks completely different! Read more or watch a video tour of the new UI here.

X-Plane 11 will feature a Flight School section with numerous tutorials. For the first time, desktop sim users will be able to learn how to use X-Plane from within X-Plane. Watch the Flight School preview here.
Tips and Tricks
Despite its name, the X-Plane Developer site is not just for scenery artists and aircraft developers. You can find many resources for creating X-Plane add ons there, but it’s also an excellent way to peek behind the curtain of the X-Plane development process. Lead Developer Ben Supnik provides regular updates and explanations of the things we’re working on for X-Plane. Often he provides insight into the thought process behind X-Plane development decisions.
Our developer site may seem a little intimidating at first, but if you’re interested in an insider look as we continue putting the finishing touches on X-Plane 11, you’ll want to bookmark the X-Plane Developer blog!
